Buying Low on Tiger Woods

Over-reacting can be a parasite.  And the bookies throwing out 15/1 odds on Tiger is a parasitic symptom of which I’m more than happy to exploit.

Any doubts of not getting value on Tiger were swiftly quelled by the efforts of The Saw.

Gambling is a cumulative process, and one has to merely survive the vacillations of success/failure while at the same time gradually building bankroll, before being afforded the luxury of taking the proverbial “shot in the dark.”

Tiger Woods and US Open, among other things

The US Open is easily the biggest story the rest of the week.  Tiger Woods is a heavy favorite, after his heroic and legendary display of determination, courage, and talent in winning last year.  This year, Bethpage Black has already been given an infamous appeal.  Reports are Woods failed to reach the par 4 #10 green with a 5 wood on his second shot during his practice round on Tuesday. Rain is in the forecast invariably throughout the weekend, adding to the already soggy conditions.  Woods said on Tuesday, “I’ve already hit too many 3-irons on par 4s today…This is probably the most difficult golf course we’ve faced from tee to green.” The official scorecard shows 212 yards added to the tips from 2002.[Golf.com]  Rocco Mediate, last years runner-up to Woods, said on ESPNRadio’s Mike and Mike, that shooting par may be good enough to win the tournament.  Does the public want to see low scores, birdies, and an amazing display of talent?  Or a self-effacing demonstration of golf and its players, fighting for every stroke?  As long as Tiger is in the hunt, it probably doesn’t matter.  Good luck guys.
