NCAAB: Fading Kentucky

There is a devout complacency that accompanies a fresh #1 ranking. Kentucky has now moved to #1 for the first time in six years, after Texas faultered twice last week as the newly appointed top ranked team. Super frosh John Wall headlines the UK roster, in more ways than one. He’s a virtual lock to skip his remaining three seasons and become the next NBA superstar. The program is as celebrated and hyped as its been in a long time. And today they face the ineffably trivial task of playing a road game versus conference rival South Carolina. Sigh. UK is in a state of euphoric dotage on future possibilities of greatness, of number one seeds, of championships, of NBA glory. This is arguably now the most meaningless game of the season for Kentucky. Barring any unexpected circumstances that could hinder a season’s progress, they have essentially secured a #1 seed for the tournament. Kentucky is a huge public favorite. Their opponent, South Carolina, is desperate for a bubble-esque win.

#1 Kentucky -7.5 -110

South Carolina +7.5 -110

$55 / $50

I’m risking the possibility of falling to the red over the last three days, putting a dim light on my illusion of progress. I’m fairly confident in going at least 1-1 to stay afloat.
