BYU @ New Mexico PK
This might be New Mexico’s season. If they lose this one, it places a cold glint into the eyes of the tournament committee towards their at-large tourney hopes. Should be a prime “upset” situation for the Lobos. A team in desperation. Their opponent, BYU, is coming off a very hard fought road win @ SDSU, always a tough place to play. A game in which they evinced much energy to secure a victory. BYU’s #10 ranking is their highest ranking in the USAToday since 1991-1992 season. Everything is going right for them. They can afford to slip up here, their tourney resume is air tight. Regression to the mean is likely.
And the line opened at New Mexico -1. The ineffable un-ranked home favorite vs a ranked team that I am inclined to wager into submission. These have struggled over the last few games or so. I think I’ve lost four straight. All swans can’t be white, though. A black swan is out there somewhere.
