Yankees lose 2 of 3 to Nats; Willis to DL and other injuries

-The Yankees inexplicably lost to the Nationals earlier today.  The surging Nats took the series @ Yankee Stadium, winning 2 of 3, stifling the potent Yankee bats.  The New York lineup was unable to overcome the promising, incorrigible young arms John Lannan and Craig Stammen of the Nats, who were among the ML leaders in a variety of pitching categories.  Right?  Ummm, no.  Upon entering the series, the Nats were 16-47 compared to the Yankees at 36-27.  If there is such thing as an upset in the baseball regular season this is it.  Roughly 300 percentage points separated these two in terms of wins and losses.  What does this mean?  Should the Yankee feel embarrassed?

Other news:

-Dontrelle Willis was placed on the DL, apparently due to an Anxiety Disorder.  Maybe one would be more comfortable in a social setting after 7 shutout innings rather than a 2 1/3 inning walk-fest.  Just maybe.  Unfortunately for us, we will have to search for new and rhetoric-friendly material.  THANK GOD FOR THE INTERNETS, YES!!!

-A strained right groin has placed Roy Halladay on the 15-day DL.  The Blue Jays pitching staff have officially been labeled with the term “decimated.”

A similar injury has sidelined Raul Ibanez of the slumping Phillies, adding fuel to the steroid-fire.
